Christmas Table

Centre Piece for Christmas Table

REQUIREMENTS:

Dish for base

Candle and Candle Holder

Piece of Driftwood or similar

Pod, Cone or similar

Paper:     Red, white, green for leaves and a different green for the Rock Ferns

Burgundy, water soluble marker

Glass of clean water.

Punches:

Rock Fern, Groovy Flower, Spirelli Flower, Birch Leaf

Punch size is Super Giant.

STEP 1

Punch 1 white Spirelli Flower per bloom.

STEP 2

Colour the tips of each petal with the burgundy, water soluble marker.

Turn the shape over and repeat the step above.

Cut between the petals and remove the centre as shown in the diagram on the left.

STEP 3

From the red paper, cut a strip, 9mm wide by 297mm long.

Place dobs of PVA glue randomly along the strip.

Use the closed tweezers and roll the strip into a firm coil around the tweezers. Adhere the end.

STEP 4

Adhere 5 or 6 petals around the red coil. The number of petals will depend on the tightness of your coil.

NOTE: Adhere the collar only, not the petals. If the collar is 2 to 3mm high, 6 to 7mm of the red coil can be seen below the coil as shown in the diagram on the right.

STEP 5

Continue adding/adhering the petals around the coil offsetting the petals. Open the petals outwards as this action makes the gaps stand out. All the petals are used.

HINT:                                                               If the tweezers become loose, place one prong inside the centre of the coil and one on the outside.

STEP 6:

Fluff the petals outwards and separate.

Hold the combined shape up-side-down and quickly dip in and out of a glass of clean water. Shake firmly to remove the excess water. Separate the petals if required and allow to dry.

STEP 7:

Punch 2 red Groovy Flowers per bloom.

STEP 8:

Make a cut into the centre of one red shape.

STEP 9:

Remove 1 petal from the second red shape.

STEP 10:

Place the shape on the moulding pad and give each petal "half moon" character.

Adhere the 8th petal behind the 1st to form a cone shape.

Optional: Trim the edges of the 8th petal before the step above for easier gluing.

STEP 11 :

Place the shape on the moulding pad and give each petal "half moon" character.

Adhere the 7th petal behind the 1st to form a smaller cone shape than Step 10.

Optional: Trim the edges of the 7th petal before the step above for easier gluing.

STEP 12:

Remove the point from the base of the cone created in Step 11.

Adhere inside Step 10. Offset the petals and use the spare petal from Step 9 to fill in any gap.

Open the dried petals from Step 6 and adhere inside the combined cones.

STEP 13:   Arranging the layout will depend on the shape of the base dish.

1. Place the driftwood in position with Blu Tac or silcone glue followed by the candle holder then the cone/pods.

2. Punch and vein the Birch leaves.  Adhere into position along with the flowers.

3. From a different colour green paper, punch the Rock Ferns and arrange on top of the driftwood. The base of some Rock Ferns can be adhered to a double thickness centre stem to create a longer, wider display.
