Gum Nuts: Six required. Roll a strip of Rolling Paper, 3mm wide by 297mm in length (A4 length). Note: Pale coloured Rolling Paper is the best when brown is not available.
Use the Reverse/closed tweezers. Add a touch of PVA glue as shown above. DO NOT use glue in any other position on the rolling strip. Roll tightly, take your time and roll the paper so only one 3mm width will be seen when completed. Adhere the end to secure. Place your thumb nail underneath the tight coil, squeeze the tweezers gently and release the coil. Hold the coil on its edge and gently push the centre of the coil with the large end of the Shape Mate. The centre will extend like a zoom lens on a camera. Locate the rolling paper’s join line on the outside, this is the back of the gum nut and the gluing point. Smear this area with PVA glue including the extension. This will prevent the gum nut from being squeezed flat and allows it to hold its shape. Complete the other gum nuts. Paint the outside and inside with dark brown water soluble crayon. When the paint is dry, smear a little PVA glue inside the gum so as not to be seen when dry as it will be a little shiny. This adds strength to the hollow shape.
